A Military History of the Hubbell Family in North America
The Hubbell Family Historical Society announces the publication of "A Military History of the Hubbell Family in North America". The book was written by Commander Hilbert R. Hubble USN (Ret) and documents the service of all Hubbell/Hubble/Hubel/Hubbels in the United States and Canada for which records can be found. The book starts with the colonial militia and continues until the recent activities in Kosovo. Contributions by family members include letters, diaries, photographs, and memoirs. Each chapter sets the stage by a description of the conditions facing the Hubbell service men and women including what they wore, what they ate, recruiting, pensions, etc. Specific actions in which Hubbells are known to participate are described next followed by a short biography for each service member.
The book is one of a series of Hubbell Family Historical Society Publications including the 1980 "History and Genealogy of the Hubbell Family", the 1989 "Hubbell Pioneers", the 1995 "Additions and Revisions to the History and Genealogy of the Hubbell Family" and the soon to be published "Hubbell By Choice."
