General Sweeny's and

On Saturday, we again boarded the tour shuttles to visit sites relating to the Ozarks' involvement in the Civil War.  General Sweeny's Civil War Museum contains many artifacts and provides an unromanticized, realistic view of the conditions for both the military and civilian population.  It adjoins the Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, the site of the largest battle in Missouri during the war.  There we saw the Ray Farmhouse, which acted as the overwhelmed field hospital during the conflict, stirring vivid images in our minds as to what those present must have experienced.
