Monday: June 18, 2007

8:00–9:00 a.m. Registration
9:00–12:00 noon Membership Meeting
12:00–1:30 p.m. Lunch

Tuesday: June 19, 2007
8:30 a.m.

The bus departs for the tour of the General Motors Truck Assembly plant. The truck plant is the only remaining vehicle assembly plant in Flint. Following this, we will depart for the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills. Walter Chrysler was an employee of General Motors before starting his own manufacturing business. View over 70 extraordinary vehicles on display including many rare models of Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, DeSoto, Jeep, Nash, Hudson, Rambler, and Willys cars and trucks. Among these you will find: Dream cars from the 50’s, Custom-bodied Classics and four-wheel drive legends, and highly prized muscle cars. 

Lunch

Lunch will be served at Historic Olde World Canterbury Village. Canterbury Village displays a wealth of treasures collected from around the world. Antique windows, doors, paneling, and artifacts add distinction as well as luster to Olde World Canterbury Village and King’s Court Castle restaurant.

Afternoon

Following lunch the tour returns to Flint for a tour of the Durant – Dort office building, the founding place of General Motors, and the Nash home, with Sally from Genesee Historical Society. Billy Durant was the founder of General Motors. Dort was founder of the Dort Motor Company, one of the first vehicles of General Motors. The tour then moves to the Flint Planetarium where we will see the Hubble Space Show, then to the Flint Institute of Arts.

Dinner

After visiting Sloan Museum, we will be served dinner at Sloan and view a unique fashion show. Our day will conclude with the trip back to Frankenmuth.

Thursday: June 21, 2007

Morning

Tuesday we will travel to Flint for a city tour commemorating the birthplace of the automobile business. We’ll visit St Paul’s church with an organ recital. From there we will visit the Whaley Historical House for a tour and tea. Mr. Whaley was president of Citizens Bank and loaned Billy Durant $2000 dollars for the start of General Motors.

Lunch

We’ll go to Crossroads Village for lunch (possibly aboard the Genesee Belle). The Genesee Belle is a Paddle Wheel River boat that cruises on Mott Lake.

Afternoon

We’ll tour Crossroads Village and take a ride on the Huckleberry Railroad. Next stop will be Hopkins cemetery and the grave of Charles Brewster Hubbell. He is the subject of this reunion and a Veteran of the Indian and the Civil wars. The new tombstone will be dedicated before our return to Frankenmuth for the evening.

After leaving Frankenmuth, you are invited for an extended trip back to Flint, At Sloan Museum, where the Summer Fair will be in full swing Saturday and Sunday. Hundreds of vintage cars, at least 25 years old, will be on display at the museum. A block of rooms will be reserved at the Holiday Inn Express in the Hubbell name. The room rate will be $69.00 + tax. The hotel provides FREE transportation to and from Bishop (Flint) Airport and a continental breakfast. The Holiday Inn is within walking distance to Sloan Museum.
